Don Bosco B.Ed College, Yadgir

Don Bosco College of Education,Yadgir is part of the worldwide network of Don Bosco institutions, which are renowned for their commitment to providing quality education with a focus on holistic development. The college is affiliated with Raichur University and previously with Gulbarga University. It began its educational journey in the academic year 2004-2005 with the motto ‘Virtue and Wisdom’. The institution is recognized by the Government of Karnataka and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).The college provides education for students from remote villages, playing a vital role in uplifting the educational standards and opportunities in underserved areas.

Establishment and Early Years: Don Bosco College of Education was established in the year 2004-2005, focusing on nurturing virtue and wisdom in education.

Diploma in Education (D.Ed.): The college introduced the Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) course in January 2005-2006. In 2012-2013 the D.Ed. course was discontinued due to declining demand, as students increasingly preferred the B.Ed. course.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.): The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course was launched with an initial intake of 100 students in November 2006-2007. In 2014- 2015, the intake for the B.Ed. course was reduced from 2 units to 1 unit (50 students). In the same year, the college adopted a two-year B.Ed. program with four semesters, in alignment with NCTE guidelines.

Affiliation and Expansion:2021-2022: The college applied for affiliation with the newly established Raichur University. An application was also submitted to start a degree college, intending to integrate it with the B.Ed. program as per the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Quality Assurance: Each year, the college undergoes an evaluation by the Local Inspection Committee (LIC) from the university to renew its affiliation. The committee provides feedback and observations to ensure continuous improvement. In 2021-22, college received the appreciation award for the highest affiliation score (81.98).
